R. I. P. DAVE

Whether we are racing on the track or watching the action from the stands, all of us who enjoy the weekly show at Paris need to take a moment and remember DAVE HAVILL. Were it not for Dave we would not be able to spend our Friday nights here in the way we do. That is because Paris Speedway would not exist but for his dogged determination to find a place to put a speedway track. After years of effort he finally succeeded and the first meeting was staged here in September 1990. It was a very basic set-up on that day without even a safety fence for the track but it was a critical step in his bid to establish a genuine speedway track. Things have come a long way in the past twenty years. Since then Dave personally put in countless hours working on his track year after year until illness finally forced him to step back and leave the heavy work to others. Typically he fought hard against the cancer with which he was afflicted but sadly he passed away on Sunday. Rest In Peace Dave. You had a vision of what you wanted to do and by your own hard work achieved it. As long as there is racing on your track you will not be forgotten and that is quite an epitaph for any man. Thank you for all you have done for us and our sport.

———- ———- ———-

With a successful racing season here at Paris it’s time to take a look at the current standings for the season long Points Series in the different classes. Some of them are already settled but others look likely to go right down to the wire before they are settled. Keep in mind this weekend is the season finale.

SPEEDWAY - This is all but over with Aaron Hesmer holding a 33 point lead over his cousin Gary. This race should be all over with a week to spare.

OPEN FLAT TRACK - This one is much too close to call. With his win on Friday Jeff Seguin shaved a couple of points off of Ryan Rainville’s lead which is now down to only four at 103 points to 99. In third place Doug Lawrence on 84 still has an outside chance but for him to win both the leaders would have to miss last meeting.

OPEN ATV - Regular participation is the key to winning this class which Josh Caughell seems to have in hand with a 21 point lead over Brett Noble, 97 to 76. Jason Law is third on 68 with a fast closing group of four just behind him. Regan Woodards, Blain Nock, Jason Styx and Friday’s winner Matthew Van Ginkel have been winning most of the races lately but they missed too many meetings early in the year to have a real chance to come out on top. Steady scoring each week by Caughell has been the key.

AMATEUR FLAT TRACK - This is another class which should be decided on Saturday. Since his first appearance a month ago Matt Ward has been scoring points in bunches and is now third in the standings with 65. However ever present Braden Vallee has a big lead with 128 and a typical effort from him on Saturday will put him out of reach of Joey Martin who is in second place with 92.

YOUTH FLAT TRACK - This one is already over with Braden Vallee too far ahead of runner-up Nate Hammond to be caught.

YOUTH ATV - This is the closest battle with Tamara Noble just three points ahead of Braden Kelloway. This is one that won’t be settled until the season finale.

50 cc - Justin Hutchison has won this class and the race is for second with Hunter Bauer, 64, leading Dustin Brown 51, an impressive total for a youngster who has only ridden in four meetings. Aston Newell is in fourth place on 49 while recent additions to the class Dax and Dakota Laking have also been scoring well.

BAJA BIKES - Leader of this pack of fun loving guys is Jeremy Weasmer on 105 ahead of Mike Hurlburt 86 and Blaise MacDonald 73. In the women’s class Jenny Totten has a 12 point lead over Holly Schirtzing.

GO-KARTS - This is a family affair with Tim and Arlene Seguin leading their respective groups.

RESULTS FROM FRIDAY

SPEEDWAY - 1) AARON HESMER, 2) Gary Hesmer, 3) Gary Moody, 4) Robert Cuff.

ATV - 1) MATTHEW VAN GINKEL, 2) Regan Woodards, 3) Blain Nock, 4) Jason Stys.

FLAT TRACK OPEN - 1) JEFF SEGUIN, 2} Ryan Rainville, 3) John Kehoe.

FLAT TRACK AMATEUR 1) MATT WARD, 2) Joe Martin, 3) Brandon Seguin, 4) Braden Vallee.

FLAT TRACK YOUTH - 1) BRADEN VALLEE, 2) Josh Fenton, 3) Tyler Brown.

BAJA BIKES - 1) JEREMY WEASMER, 2) Matt Ward, 3) Mike Hurlburt, 4) Shane Dube.

FLAT TRACK 50CC - 1) DUSTIN BROWN, 2) Dax Laking, 3) Dakota Laking, 4) Justin Hutchison.

ATV YOUTH - 1) TAMARA NOBLE, 2) Braden Kelloway, 3) Jaylen O’Gorman.

BAJA WOMEN - 1) HOLLY SCHIRTZING, 2) Jenny Totten, 3) Mary Weasmer, 4) Laurie Noel.

By: Duncan Luke

Another good crowd was on hand for this week’s event but to some extent the on track action was affected by track conditions which deteriorated as the night wore on. For some reason the pre-meeting watering had not penetrated as deeply as it normally does and as the damp top layer was quickly blown to the outside the drier material below was stripped away in many places resulting in a very rough and inconsistent race surface.

This week’s meeting was quite different from last week’s event which attracted a particularly large turnout in the Open Flat-Track class. With a double header at Leamington and Wheatley this weekend counting for National points, apart from Jeff Seguin, all of the experts from this class headed there instead which meant that Seguin had to compete in the Amateur class instead. Sportingly he penalized himself by starting all his races from the double penalty line but, as expected, he was simply too good for the other riders and easily won all his races. The final involved an Indian file restart when a couple of riders went down on the back straight half way through the race. Seguin quickly moved from second to first after the restart and cruised home for the win but in a nice acknowledgement of the situation sent second place finisher Braden Vallee round to take the checkered flag lap.

Fans who were keeping track of the action must have been baffled when inexperienced youngster Gary Moody came out for his first main event in the speedway class although he had not finished ahead of another rider in any of his races. Strange as it seems this was based on the points he scored in his qualifying heats. In two of them he met Greg Starcevic who did not finish in one and did not start another thereby gifting Gary a couple of extra points. That still would not have been enough but his good luck continued when he was gifted a whopping three additional points in what has to be the most bizarre race of the season. It started out with a prolonged bout of bumping and jostling between Gary and Aaron Hesmer over just where they would line-up for the start. When that was resolved C. J. Hesmer then stormed through the tapes and went to the penalty line for the restart. After the race, in which Gary Moody came home in fourth place, the referee disqualified all three Hesmers, Aaron and Gary for the antics and Chris for deliberately breaking the tapes meaning that Gary Moody was awarded the win and the additional points which were enough to see him make the final. Not surprisingly his luck ran out in this as Gary Hesmer made it two Main event wins in a row finishing ahead of Aaron Hesmer and Terry Rideout. Nonetheless it was quite a night for the youngster who, considering how his luck was running, maybe wished he had bought a lottery ticket on his way to the track

As usual the ATV final provided its share of excitement. This time it was Shawn Stys who tipped his machine over and caused a restart that was by won by Jason Stys who dominated the race with a tapes to flag effort with Regan Woodards holding off newcomer Darcy Ryksen for second place.

The Baja class featured the usual close action with plenty of changes in positions in the early laps before Jeremy Weasmer got to the front and held on for the win ahead of regulars Mike Hurlburt and Blaise MacDonald.

In the Youth flat-track class Braden Vallee kept his string of Main event wins going while in the P50 class Dax Laking came from behind to beat Series points leader Justin Hutchison with a nice effort.

RESULTS:

SPEEDWAY - 1) GARY HESMER, 2) Aaron Hesmer, 3) Terry Rideout, 4) Gary Moody.

Only 3 weekends left and we’re already sad that it’s so close to the season close. Paris Speedway has managed to come to life again in 2010 with addition to many new faces and committed riders and supporters. I can’t thank everyone enough especially to those that come out every week to help out. The volunteer positions always seem to be a thankless job, however I personally cannot thank any of them enough as I hope many of you do.

I do want to bring up a couple of things that are important. For one the Banquet is booked on October 23rd at the Hall at the Fairgrounds. It’s a Saturday evening, starts at 5pm with a dinner at 7pm. There will be an awards ceremony as well as many fun filled games and attractions there. I hope you all attend and everyone is invited! Tickets are $30 for an adult… Kids 15 and under are $15. Tickets will be available before and after the races at sign in and payout. The tickets will also be available through paypal… please email: hesmermotorsports@hotmail.com.

Last Sunday we seen the first speedway school and it was extremely successful. I have to mention the last bits of our sponsor Breyers Ice Cream got us through the heat on the Sunday afternoon. Looks like there’s a few new speedway riders to look forward to. The only unfortunate incident was when Tommy Hensby had a crash hitting the boards going into the corner. It left him with a broken thumb which will leave him out for the rest of the season. However up until that point he looked like a major contender and he served a few laps full throttle.

Last and not least please be aware that the race on the Labour day weekend hosts all classes. Prize money breakdown on the event will be updated shortly. Also look out for the updates to the regular purse as we’ve slightly increased it.

FLAT – TRACK FRIDAY

By: Duncan Luke

What looked to be the biggest crowd of the season was on hand to see lots of race action with the flat-track class taking the spotlight for the night. With no other racing action on tap for the riders this weekend there were 22 starters split between the Open and Amateur classes far more than in any previous meeting. Add in good turnouts for the ATV and P50 classes and the result was the longest race program yet at 57 heats and a scramble to get all the finals in before hitting the curfew deadline.

Although these flat-trackers are accustomed to riding quarter and half-mile tracks it hasn’t taken them long to get used to the much shorter Paris circuit and find the fastest way around it. With three of the top four in the CMA Expert standings on hand, Doug Beattie, Doug Lawrence, Tim Seguin, CMA Intermediate class leader, Tyler Seguin, and Paris Series points leader Ryan Rainville, all signed in for the Open class the action promised to be fast and furious and it was.

Jeff Seguin showed he was going to be the man to beat by winning all three of his qualifying heats while Rainville, Beattie and Seguin snared a win apiece. However in the final it was Doug Beattie who grabbed the early lead from Rainville and Lawrence. Jeff Seguin spent the first half of the race working his way up from fourth but Beattie made no mistakes and held him off for the final four laps to take the checkered flag. Behind the leaders there was plenty of action with Tyler Seguin particularly impressive. He overcame a second row start in the eight-man final to catch both Lawrence and Rainville for a third place finish with an impressive late surge.

In the Amateur class Matt Ward showed he is one to watch for the future. For the second week in a row he showed his ability by going unbeaten on the night. Joey Martin was his closest challenger winning all three of his qualifying heats. But in the final Ward led from start to finish while Martin had to get past another Seguin, Jeremy, for second place with Braden Vallee doing the same a lap later to finish third.

In the speedway class Gary Hesmer put an end to his cousin Aaron Hesmer’s season long string of Main event wins. Gary has been in good form in recent weeks and took the win with something to spare when Aaron was slow off the line and took a couple of laps to pass the rest of the field. Katalin Davis showed well to take third ahead of Mike Hammond.

That result left Braden Vallee as the only rider who was won the Main event in his class each week so far this year. Having come close to losing last week he made no mistakes this time and had an easy win when his main rival Nate Hammond was penalized twice and had to start from the double penalty line.

The ATV action was as competitive as usual and produced another first time winner in the form of Regan Woodards who took over the lead when Jason Stys spun out half way through the race. Regular Brett Noble was second while Stys recovered to finish in third place.

We almost had a new winner in the Baja bikes class with regular Shane Dube being edged out by Jeremy Weasmer right on the line. The finish was so close that it took a split decision of the three judges at the finish line to decide the winner not an easy task with all the riders clothing, their bikes and the background of the track blending into one dark color.

RESULTS:

by: Duncan Luke

Where else but at the Paris Fairgrounds could you have been be on a Friday night and be able to say that you had seen all of the following.

* Two expert flat-track riders going shoulder to shoulder for all six laps of their first qualifying heat and still have only a tire width separating them at the finish.

* See a youngster on an ATV test how far he could stretch the tape with his neck when he overran the start line as he came up to the tapes. Surprisingly far is the answer.

* Four Baja bikes in a line across the track as they same out of a turn.

* A go-kart spinning out and getting stuck in a pile of dirt just off the inside edge of the track and the driver then getting out, pulling it clear and rejoining the race.

* A demo by a 1,000cc specially designed racing sidecar, one of only two in all of Canada.

* A young speedway rider slamming into the fence and then entertaining the crowd and showing that he was unhurt by picking himself up doing a swan dive over his fallen bike.

* A 70 year old go-kart driver showing that you are only as old as you think you are by easily defeating his rivals not once but in every race.

* A rider wearing a bright pink racing helmet.

* P50 riders falling all over the track when it was a little greasy after watering and the difference in the level of concern when this happened between the officials and the kids themselves when one of them, as he came up to the tapes for the restart, happily told the starting marshal that “he really wiped out”.

* A flat tracker trying to jump the start so aggressively that he put the starting gate out of action for the rest of the night.

* The program adjusted to enable a rider whose bike wouldn’t start to share a bike with another rider in the same class all the way through the qualifying heats.

* The genuine applause given to a young rider when he was able to get to his feet and walk off the track, albeit with a shoulder injury, after an awkward fall.

* An ATV rider losing control and coming off as his machine tipped over, then jumping up getting the machine back on four wheels and restarting it before the leader could get around to lap him.

* 49 heats of racing.

In short it was just another regular night of racing at Paris for the fans to enjoy.

The best race of the night got the meeting off to a fast start when Ryan Rainville and Jeff Seguin wowed the fans with six spectacular laps of close action. Although they exchanged the lead more than once neither could get more than a wheel ahead and at the line it was Seguin in front by no more than half that distance. The final wasn’t as close with Seguin leading it from start to finish while behind him Rainville took second and Steve Rivier third.

There was another dramatic finish to the flat-track youth final. Braden Vallee’s season long string of victories in this class was under threat thanks to a fine ride by Nathan Hammond who led for the first three laps. Vallee then got by only for Hammond to catch him at the final turn and it was only in the run to the flag that Vallee got the edge to keep his record intact.

Another winning streak continued when Aaron Hesmer took the speedway main event with Gary Hesmer following him home and Mike Hammond third.

Machine problems meant that the two Matts, Ward and Sehl, had to share a bike and while #45 got a good workout it certainly performed well and brought them five wins and a second in six starts. Sehl used it in the final but Ward borrowed Rainville’s bike and had no trouble adjusting to it with a tapes to flag win while Sehl had to settle for third behind Vallee.

At the end of a very competitive ATV final that needed a restart after a couple of them tangled mid race, it was Blain Nock who took the checkered flag ahead of Regan Woodards.

RESULTS:

SPEEDWAY – 1) AARON HESMER, 2) Gary Hesmer, 3) Mike Hammond, 4) Tommy Hensby.

ATV – 1) BLAIN NOCK, 2) Regan Woodards, 3) Shawn Stys, 4) Justin Kelloway.

FLAT –TRACK – 1) JEFF SEGUIN, 2} Ryan Rainville, 3) Steve Rivier, 4) Dale Thompson.

FLAT TRACK AMATEUR 1) MATT WARD, 2) Braden Vallee, 3) Matt Sehl, 4) Nick Longhurst..

FLAT TRACK YOUTH – 1) BRADEN VALLEE, 2) Nathan Hammond, 3) Michael Burning.

BAJA BIKES – 1) MIKE HURLBURT, 2) Jeremy Weasmer, 3) Shane Dube, 4) Jay Weasmer.

FLAT TRACK 50CC – 1) JUSTIN HUTCHISON, 2) Hunter Bauer, 3) Austin Barath, 4) #11

ATV YOUTH – 1) BRADEN KELLOWAY, 2) David Stanley.

BAJA WOMEN – 1) TANYA ROGERSON, 2) Jenny Totten, 3) Holly Schertzing.

By: Duncan Luke

Another week with heavy rain leaving parts of the track flooded on Friday morning but once again hard work brought it up to shape by race time. At least this week there was no threat of rain in the evening so there was a good crowd on hand to see plenty of action. A big rider turnout in the flat-track and ATV classes plus a D2 speedway class meant extra heats to accommodate them and the end result was a 50 race program, the longest yet. Despite an early delay to water the track to keep the dust down the meeting was still finished by 10.45 pm but this may just be a tad too long for the program as for the first time this year some of the fans left just before the end.

Bike trouble was the name of the game for the night in the speedway class. Unfortunately for him Gray Hesmer blew his motor while warming it up but fortunately was able to borrow bikes from the other starters and still get his rides in. He made the most of these culminating in a second place finish to cousin Aaron Hesmer in the final with Terry Rideout in third and Mike Hammond fourth after a fall. With newcomer Scott Thompson on hand a D2 class was run. His bike gave him trouble all night, smoking badly and he was a dnf in a couple of heats. However he borrowed Mike Hammond’s bike for the final and did much better but still could not catch young Tommy Hensby who was delighted to earn his first checkered flag lap.

Another youngster to earn the applause of the crowd was young Hunter Bauer. After three middle of the pack finishes in the P50 class heats he wound on the throttle going into the last two turns of the final and caught and overtook Justin Hutchison to get the win. A fine effort in a class where lead changes late in a race are a rarity.

Jeff Seguin made a return to the track after missing a couple of wins and romped away to win the flat-track expert class final by a comfortable margin. Behind him his cousin Tyler Seguin made it a good night for the family by coming from fourth after the first lap to get up to second after a long and thoroughly entertaining battle with Doug Lawrence. Not to be outdone the Amateur class provided their own fireworks and with ten riders in the final on the small track it wasn’t surprising that it took three tries to complete it. A false start and an accident when the leaders tangled on the fourth lap caused the restarts but neither fazed Justin Crumb who led from start to finish for a well deserved win. This may well have been the only time we will see ten starters in a race at Paris as afterwards the referee decided that it was just too dangerous to have so many in action at once and that future finals in this class should be restricted to six starters.

In the ATV class Blain Nock caught the eye with three spin-outs during the night, two of them in one race, so not surprisingly he didn’t repeat last week’s win. Instead it was newcomer Martin Van Ginkel who took the honours in the eight man field with regular Brett Noble in second, despite confusing the scorer when he lost his number plate part way through the race, while another newcomer Dean Woodwords took third.

In the Baja class Jeremy Weasmer switched his number plate from 72 to 85 but once again provided plenty of entertainment for his fans. Like he did last week, he let the others get a couple of lengths start off the line before he tried to chase them down. He came close to doing it for the second week in a row but this time had to settle for second place behind Blaise MacDonald with Mike Hurlbut a close third. In the ladies class it was Holly Schwertzing who took the checkered flag ahead of last week’s winner Jenny Totten.

A spectacular crash in the first heat of the go-karts saw Winston Grosse going airborne when he hit another cart that had spun in front of him. Happily he was OK but his cart suffered a flat tire in the incident and that sidelined him for the rest of the night in which Tim Seguin was a comfortable winner in all his races.

RESULTS:

SPEEDWAY – 1) AARON HESMER, 2) Gary Hesmer, 3) Terry Rideout, 4) Mike Hammond

ATV – 1) MARTIN VAN GINKEL, 2) Brett Noble, 3) Dean Woodwords, 4) Blain Nock.

FLAT –TRACK – 1) JEFF SEGUIN, 2} Tyler Seguin, 3) Doug Lawrence, 4) Dale Thompson.

FLAT TRACK AMATEUR 1) JUSTIN CRUMB, 2) Matt Ward, 3) Josh Dolan, 4) Joey Martin.

SPEEDWAY D2 – 1) TOMMY HENSBY, 2) Scott Thompson

FLAT TRACK YOUTH – 1) BRADEN VALLEE, 2) Nathan Hammond

BAJA BIKES – 1) BLAISE MacDONALD, 2) Jeremy Weasmer, 3) Mike Hurlbut, 4) Jay Weasmer.

FLAT TRACK 50CC – 1) HUNTER BAUER, 2) Justin Hutchison, 3) Becker Thompson, 4) Austin Barath.

ATV YOUTH – 1) TAMARA NOBLE, 2) Braden Kelloway, 3) Jaylin O’Gorman

BAJA WOMEN – 1) HOLLY SCHERTZING, 2) Jenny Totten, 3) Lori Noel, 4) Mary Weasmer.

GO-KARTS – 1) TIM SEGUIN, 2) John Poitras, 3) Fern Bourque.

By: Duncan Luke

Quite a bit, when week after week you see a mythical person given credit for your performances because the person writing up the reports doesn’t know how to spell your name. Even winning his class last week didn’t solve the problem. So apologies go to Josh Caughell, until now aka Josh Langhall, who currently is only four points behind Jason Law in the track point standings for his class. Hopefully we have the right spelling now as it comes directly from the promoter but if not let us know and we will try again to get it right next week.

Things didn’t look to encouraging for a night’s racing with parts of the track underwater at mid afternoon but Mike Zelaska got to work dragging the wet surface material to dry it. His work paid off and the result was a remarkably good race track. Although lightning started flashing to the south half way through the meeting the weather gods gave us a break and the rain stayed away allowing the full 45 race program to be done by 10.15pm.

As usual there was plenty of good racing in the different classes. Some of the most entertaining action was between riders battling for the minor places such as a race long battle for second between Cameron McAlpine and Tim Seguin in an early heat in the Amateur flat-track class. Joey Martin was a bit above the rest of the field in the class and went through the night unbeaten with Braden Vallee and John Jarvie following him home in the final.

Doug Lawrence made a welcome return to action in the Open class and showed that he hadn’t forgotten the fastest way around the track as he won all four of his races while Dale Thompson and Tyler Seguin battled away behind him.

In the ATV class Josh Caughell had a decent night but had to settle for third in the final behind Brett Noble and Blain Nock who took the honours. Last week Blain looked as if he might get the win only to spin out as he took over the lead and he had another spin this week while leading in his heat. Happily for him it was a different story in the final when he hit the front early in the race and made no mistakes to take his first main event win at Paris.

In the speedway class Jeff Orosz was in top form and stormed through the qualifying heats unbeaten including two comprehensive wins over Aaron Hesmer. With that kind of form he looked likely to end Aaron’s season long run of main event wins here having earned his choice of gate for the final. However it was Hesmer who jetted off the line and just held off Orosz’s challenge around the first two turns. Four fast laps later that was the order of the finish with Orosz a length behind despite a strong effort.

An interesting extra for the speedway fans was to see a couple of riders try their hand on a speedway bike for the first time with some practice laps after the meeting. Doug Lawrence was one and he quickly showed that he would, hopefully will, have no trouble adapting to this style of racing. He had the bike breaking loose and sliding through the turns right from the start and looked completely at ease doing so. He seemed to be enjoying himself thoroughly as he put in a number of quick laps so hopefully we might see him doubling up in the classes before too long. Matt Ward was the other rider trying it out and although not as quick or stylish as Lawrence he also did well and would only take a little more practice to get into the rhythm of things.

Another class that continues to grow is the Baja bikes which this week was up to seven starters. As before there was plenty of good natured fun and rivalry amongst the riders as typified by Jeremy Weasmer whom seems to have a bike that is just a little faster than the others. At the start of the final he intentionally let the others get at least a couple of lengths off the line before he got going and then spent the rest of the race battling his way to the front. He just made it when he edged out Blaise MacDonald by half a wheel in a frantic dash off the final turn. The pace may be slow but the racing is great fun for fans and riders alike.

There almost always seems to be something new for the fans and this week it was a Baja race for women with four of them giving the bikes in the previous race double duty. Then at the end of the night three go-karts gave a demo with a remarkable 72 year old driver easily showing the younger drivers just how it should be done with a very smooth controlled ride.

Will there be something different this week? Who knows. Best come out and see for yourself !!!

RESULTS:

By:Duncan Luke

With the rain staying away this week things were back to normal for the usual crowd pleasing Friday night race program.

With a double header for them this weekend at Leamington and Wheatley most of the top flat-trackers were absent and Ryan Rainville was clearly the best of those who did take part. His nice smooth style saw him easily outdistance his rivals and he went through the night unbeaten with Braden Vallee taking second place and John Jarvie third in the final.

Vallee went one better in the Youth class as he continued his winning streak in it. It took three attempts to run the final with both Vallee and Michael Burning on the penalty line for the third attempt. Even so it only took Vallee two laps to hit the front where he stayed to get the win with his main rival, Nate Hammond, coming in second and Tyler Brown finishing in third place.

As usual the ATV class provided some excellent entertainment with the best action being in the final. This week it was Blain Nock who really caught the eye with his never say die effort. While Josh Caughell grabbed the early lead and held it to the end the first three places were very closely contested all through the race. Nock managed to get past Jason Law on the third lap and spent the next four laps trying to find a way to get to the front. He finally found some extra drive around the outside and hit the front coming out of turn four only to lose control and shoot across the track right in front of the other two. They did well to avoid him and carry on for the final lap to finish 1-2 while Nock recovered but had to settle for fourth behind Clark Viol, a scant reward for his race long effort.

If there was an award for the best effort on the night it would go to Terry Rideout in the speedway class. He had a great scrap going with Katalin Davis but went wide out of turn two on the last lap and she slipped through to take the lead. With Davis on the inside line Rideout powered around the outside of the final two turns as he strove to retake the lead but was still half a wheel down as they streaked across the line. Having given his all in this effort Rideout then came off and finished in a heap against the end boards but happily suffered no damage to himself or his bike. Earlier in the night Gary Hesmer was in good form and had several spirited contests with his cousin Aaron. They met again in the final with Aaron getting the win from Gary while behind them Rideout and Davis had another good race with this time Rideout holding on to third place.

There were five starters this week in the Baja bike class which looks as if it will continue to grow as an economical and fun way for riders to get track time. Like last week the contestants were obviously having a ball with plenty of close racing and passing. In the final Jeremy Weasmer opened up a gap over the others to get the win while behind him Blaise MacDonald finished in second place ahead of Jay Weasmer.

There were plenty of contestants in the P50 class but the result was the same as last time with Dustin Brown taking the honours with Justin Hutchison and Hunter Bauer following him home.

RESULTS:

SPEEDWAY - 1) AARON HESMER, 2) Gary Hesmer, 3) Terry Rideout, 4) Katalin Davis.

ATV - 1) JOSH CAUGHELL 2) Jason Law, 3) Clark Viol, 4) Blain Nock.

FLAT –TRACK - 1) RYAN RAINVILLE 2) Braden Vallee, 3) John Jarvie, 4) Alex Scott.

FLAT TRACK YOUTH - 1) BRADEN VALLEE, 2) Nate Hammond, 3) Tyler Brown, 4) Michael Burning.

BAJA BIKES - 1) JEREMY WEASMER, 2) Blaise MacDonald, 3) Jay Weasmer, 4) Shane Dube.

FLAT TRACK 50CC - 1) DUSTIN BROWN, 2) Justin Hutchison 3) Hunter Bauer, 4) Aston Newell.

ATV YOUTH - 1) BRADEN KELLOWAY. 2) Jaylor O’Gorman
